How to change your partition volume label in DOS ???

vistaIf for any reason you need to change the volume label of your hard disk  and you want to use the command prompt DOS because it is faster and simpler to use or just because the other “traditional” ways don’t work, here is a simple trick which works flawlessly from Windows 95 all the way up to Windows 7 (and in the other future Windows operating systems).
  1. Click Start.
  2. In the search box type: label.exe
  3. Now all you have to do is to assign a new volume label to your hard disk.
Alternatively you can also use this command in the command prompt:
  1. LABEL [drive:][label]
  2. [drive:] is the name of the partition you wish to change the label to.
  3. [label] is the name of the new label.
